Mentha × piperita f. citrata is a hybrid of watermint Mentha aquatica and spearmint Mentha spicata. It has dark green leaves with a minty orange fragrance and flavour. Forma citrata has a citrus fragrance, while ‘Chocolate’ has a more chocolatey scent. Chocolate Mint is a perennial herb that is typically grown for its edible qualities, although it does have ornamental merits as well. The fragrant oval green leaves are usually harvested from late spring to early fall. The leaves have a minty taste.
